Todd Capital Book Club: The 10X Rule

I have read a lot of books by a lot of authors and every once in a while you come across one that is mind blowing.  That is what the 10X rule did for me.  Top three books of all time 1) Rich Dad Poor Dad, 2) Outliers, 3) 10X Rule.  The 10X rule is the Holy Grail when it comes to success.  I listen to this book every single book as motivation because the content is hard hitting, no nonsense, no excuses, no complaints.  Just get it done.

The premise behind the book is that in order to get any kind of success you have to operate at 10X levels.  For a while this didnt make sense to me.  But when you look at it the principle works because it works.  There is no magic to it.

If you run 10 miles and one person runs 1 mile you are going to be in 10X better shape than then.  If you read 10 books and the average person reads 1 book you will be 10X more educated than them.  The principle works because for the most part success is a comparison. You are successful because you have more than others and you get more than others by doing more than others.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

“What if the only thing standing in the way of your greatness was that you just had to go after everything obsessively, persistently, and as though your life depended on it?”

“I suggest that you become obsessed about the things you want; otherwise, you are going to spend a lifetime being obsessed with making up excuses as to why you didn’t get the life you wanted.”

“Average is a failing plan! Average doesn’t work in any area of life. Anything that you give only average amounts of attention to will start to subside and will eventually cease to exist.”

“in order to get to the next level of whatever you’re doing, you must think and act in a wildly different way than you previously have been. You cannot get to the next phase of a project without a grander mind-set, more acceleration, and extra horsepower.”

“Never reduce a target. Instead, increase actions. When you start rethinking your targets, making up excuses, and letting yourself off the hook, you are giving up on your dreams!”

I got pumped up just posting those!  Read this book and let me know what you think in the comments section.

Be great!
